A celebration of the true spirit of adventure, from mountain culture through to sea culture and beyond. The Adventurers, Wanderers and Explorers Film Festival was created to promote an understanding and appreciation of our cherished and wild outdoor spaces by creating opportunities for intrepid soles to share experiences and inspiration in a safe and welcoming venue, and we’re starting with our very first edition in Kelowna, BC.   

This is an open call to all Filmmakers in BC and beyond, if you’re working on a piece or have finished one that puts the spirit of adventure centre stage, we want to see it.

The Wapusk Trail is the longest seasonal road in the world. A road built on snow and Ice, connecting Peawanuck, Ontario to Gillam, Manitoba along the Hudson’s Bay coast. Ryan Atkins, Eric Batty, and Buck Miller set off on to be the first expedition to complete the full length of the Wapusk Trail on fat bikes, unsupported. This is their story.

This is a magical place. Winds whip over grassy hi

This is a magical place. Winds whip over grassy highlands clinging atop monstrous mountains, turquoise lakes lay calm one moment and build to six foot swells in the next, and walls of pine yield to moonscapes resting at the foot of glaciers.

This is a place where single lane roads touch the horizon, and every stop is rewarded with breathtaking views. Where undulating trails reveal chalky blue rivers that snake through jagged canyons and burst through fortress walls of granite. Where bright orange paintbrushes bounce and dab the damp moss and a crescent moon bathes rocky shores with a canary glow.

This is a place where respect for the land is rewarded and endless possibilities exist for those that dare to adventure.

adventure_immersion_lab has been working tirelessly near the Abraham Lake area in Alberta, putting together a 3.5 day stage race. With the help of friends at banffcanyoning rockiesheli, David Thompson Resort and davidthompsoncountry Raid the Rockies will take competitors over hundreds of kilometres of remote wilderness, trekking, paddling and biking through landscapes few will ever visit. Registration is open, but not for long.

After Tom moved back to his home province of Ontar

After Tom moved back to his home province of Ontario from a few years living in British Columbia, he longed for the multi-day adventures, commonplace in the west coast mountains. Determined to continue having big adventures, Tom looked to the Grand River as an unexplored opportunity.

This 20-minute film follows Tom Ostapchuk on his solo, self-supported journey to kayak the entire 300 km-long Grand River in southern Ontario. Fighting for his dreams and searching for his place in the world, he finds the courage and determination to push beyond his limits.

The eight-day expedition tests his determination and stamina as he faces powerful rapids, long days paddling, and isolation with his thoughts. Along the way he meets passionate paddlers who share their words and wisdom to guide his journey.

As Tom rediscovers his place in these lands, he reminds us about the importance of celebrating the natural wonders that exist in our own backyard.
