Privacy Policy for AWM Release Manager

AWM Release Manager (“the App”) is developed and operated by Angry Whale Media Inc. (“we,” “us,” “our”), available at https://awmedia.ca/. This Privacy Policy explains how the App handles information.
1. Who This Policy Covers
The App is a professional tool for photographers to create, sign, and manage model release forms. It is used by photographers and studios (“Users,” “you”). In the course of using the App, Users enter personal information about the individuals they photograph (“Subjects”), such as models.
- If you are a User of the App, this policy explains what data the App accesses on your device and how it is stored.
- If you are a Subject whose information was entered into the App by a photographer, the User who entered your information is responsible for how it is collected and used, in accordance with their own agreement with you. Please contact that photographer or studio directly with questions about your personal data. We do not have visibility into or a copy of this data — see Section 2.
2. Data Storage — Everything Stays on Your Device
We do not operate any servers that store, receive, or process App data, and the App does not transmit your data to us or to any third party. All information you enter — including project details, model/subject details (name, email, phone, date of birth, address, guardian information for minors), signatures, and generated PDF release documents — is stored locally on your device using an on-device database (Hive). There is no cloud sync, no remote backend, and no account or login system.
Because we never receive this data, we have no ability to access, view, sell, or share it. It is also not subject to a data breach on our servers, because it never leaves your device (unless you choose to share it yourself, as described below).
3. Information the App Accesses on Your Device

The App does not collect analytics, does not contain advertising SDKs, and does not use any third-party tracking or crash-reporting services.
4. When Data Leaves Your Device
The App only shares data off your device when you actively choose to do so, for example by:
- Using the built-in “Share” feature to send a generated PDF via email, messaging, or another app of your choice;
- Exporting a local backup file or a generated document and moving it yourself (e.g., to cloud storage, another device, or a computer).
Once you share data through another app or service, that service’s own privacy policy applies to the shared copy.
5. Children’s / Minors’ Data
The App includes an optional feature for Users to record that a Subject is a minor along with a parent/guardian’s contact information and signature, consistent with standard model release practices in photography. The App itself is a professional tool intended for use by adult photographers and studios, not by children, and is not directed at children. Any information about a minor is entered, stored, and controlled entirely by the User (photographer) on their own device, under their own legal responsibility to obtain appropriate parental/guardian consent. We do not receive, view, or process this information.
6. Your Choices and Control
Because all data lives on your device, you are in full control of it:
- You can view, edit, or delete any project, release, or signature at any time within the App.
- Uninstalling the App removes its locally stored database and files from your device (subject to your device OS’s normal behaviour).
- You control every instance in which data is exported or shared, as described in Section 4.
7. Permissions
The current version of the App does not request camera or photo library access. It uses your device’s standard file save/export dialog to let you save generated PDF release documents to a location you choose — this does not require a special permission grant on modern Android or iOS versions. If a future version adds features like photo capture or photo library access, we will update this policy and the in-app permission prompts before that version is released.
8. Data Retention
Data is retained locally on your device for as long as you keep it in the App or until you delete it or uninstall the App. Since we never receive a copy, we have no ability to retain, restore, or delete data on your behalf.
9. International Users
Because processing happens entirely on your own device rather than on our servers, no cross-border transfer of your data to us occurs. Users are responsible for ensuring their own use of the App to collect Subjects’ personal data complies with applicable local laws (e.g., GDPR in the EU/UK, CCPA/CPRA in California, PIPEDA in Canada).
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example to reflect new features. We will update the “Last updated” date above when we do. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
